VDO Dayton PN6000: GPS and Mobile TV Combo

Jerry under Uncategorized

The wonderful VDO Dayton PN6000 GPS System blends a satellite navigation system with mobile digital television. It is a navigation system that, while primarily focusing on the navigational aspects, pays equal importance to the multimedia aspect as well. The Dayton PN6000 functions as an MP3 player, a JPEG picture viewer, and a mobile television, apart from being a really great GPS system.

The GPS system interacts through a 5.6” touch screen interface, and provides pictograms and voice guided routes to locations that you choose. You can switch between manually and automatically zooming into the maps, which are loaded into the system through a 2GB SD memory card that comes as part of the package.

The GPS system is versatile and the menus can be set to up to twenty different languages, while voice guidance can be provided in up to seventeen of those languages. The VDO Dayton PN 6000 GPS’ capabilities include selecting the best routes based on traffic information, selecting the shortest route and routes to avoid tolls, ferries and the likes.

The VDO Dayton PN6000’s Digital Television feature is great all by itself. It provides a channel list for you to choose from and a pictogram subtitle support with teletext support as well. It also comes with a great electronic programme guide which can point out which shows are when. To power up the VDO Dayton PN6000, there is a polymer lithium battery of 4000mAh. On a full charge, this battery provides up to three hours of television time, and six hours of GPS navigation capabilities.

Overall, the VDO Dayton PN6000 is a great all in one system for your car.

  1. AY Said,

I’ve bought a PN6000 early this year, I’ve yet to get use to the operation of this device & its capabilities. I haven’t got the chance to use it as much as I ‘d like to since it’d been purchased, but each time it was used, something played up! Very annoying indeed. Last week, the screen went as I was driving in an unfamiliar area, then I plugged the charger into the ciggie socket but the battery failed to charge! I had the car socket and fuse checked and they were ok. So, it must be the failure of the lithium polymer battery. What is even more annoying is that I do not know where to buy a new replacement battery. It appears to be quite a rarity this battery!!! I’m dreading it could turned out to be very expensive as well!! Now unless I can have it replaced, this ‘fantastic’ little sat nav shall remain redundant and totally useless…

Sirs, if any of you do have any clues, please kindly advise me of where to buy this elusive battery. I’d be ever so grateful.

I’m based in Greater Manchester, ideally, I’d prefer to buy it from a local shop straight away.

    Regards,
