We’ve all seen music videos or movies where people not only watch DVDs in their cars on drop down television screens or LCDs in the backseat, but also have entire gaming consoles hooked up in back. Really it seems as though all the regular entertainment amenities you would expect of the living room, are being transported to the car, and now Wi-Fi internet access is also becoming a standard addition to in-car entertainment centres. After all, why be restricted to only watching the DVDs you brought with you in your car, when you can have a much larger selection of videos available online.

Wireless internet access allows passengers to read their email, listen to online radio, download music, play games and many other activities that are sure to make the car ride even more enjoyable. Chrysler plans to include WiFi in all their cars destined for Britain by the end of next year, while BMW is planning a 2010 introduction for its in-car web surfer. Chrysler’s technology goes online via mobile phone networks so being in a current wireless internet zone is not a concern. Clearly having internet access in your car can provide an endless amount of entertainment, and the technology is sure to catch on quickly and eventually dominate.
